experiments in performing different works, processes and practices at the same time.
SIMULTANEOUSLY is a collaborative performance based research centered around the decision to perform at the same time. The artists work through processes of repetition, simultaneity and duration to explore how their practices of moving, writing and speaking meet, interject and disrupt. What happens when a space is occupied by two parallel actions at once? During their time in studio 307 and x-church the duo will focus on two aspects of simultaneity; two finished works being presented at the same time and two performers engaging simultaneously with the same practice. They will draw from their archive of collaborative material, revisiting previous experiments and conducting new. Ideas of trying out, taking risk, failure and learning drive the process and are integral to the research.
DUO BIO
Ella Tighe and Antrianna Moutoula have been practicing performing together since April 2020. Ella is based in the UK and is an independent dancer, mainly working with dance and movement . Antrianna lives and works in Amsterdam. She is a language-based artist, continuously puzzled by how to perform the real. They both graduated from the MA Performance Practices, ArtEZ in 2021. Through practices of speaking, moving and writing their common practice has explored repetition, exhaustion and simultaneity. They have created two performance iterations of their practice together. SIMULTANEOUSLY (women women women, are you an insect or a frog, I vacuumed the carpet by the way) - an online performance (2020) and SIMULTANEOUSLY(offline) performed at NEXUS Festival | Art Chapel Amsterdam (2020).
