Fierce Little Things - Audition call out

Ella Tighe is looking for Freestyle (disco) dancers to take part in early research and development for a new touring dance-theatre show.

Her previous show Disco Queen toured to Bradford, London and Manchester, and will return across the North of England in Autumn 2026.

Ella creates funny, emotional and high-energy work, blending real experiences of Freestyle dance with contemporary performance.

This is a chance to be part of a show from the very beginning. The research stage of what this show will become. You’ll work closely with Ella, her team, and a small group of Freestyle dancers in a collaborative process.

This project centres your voice and experience. You’ll be invited to share choreography, ideas, and stories from your journey in Freestyle dance to help shape the show.

Led by Ella, you’ll be guided through creating an original performance — from movement to storytelling. No dance-theatre experience is needed, just openness and a willingness to get involved.

During the process, dancers will:

  • Learn choreography (Freestyle & contemporary)

  • Create your own choreography

  • Explore improvisation

  • Take part in simple writing and speaking tasks to help find the story of the show

It’s completely fine if some of this is new - your Freestyle experience is what matters most.

Requirements:

  • Female identifying

  • Must be 16+ years (under 18's must have parental consent)

  • Dancers will either still be competing in Freestyle, or will have retired and wish to continue working with Freestyle within performance

  • Dancers must have a collaborative approach to working with dance/choreography and be open to trying new approaches to working with dance

  • Permission from dance teachers to participate in the project

  • Availability to work on the project during either the Bradford or Mansfield week, between the hours of 10am - 4pm daily, Mon - Fri
